Bowenwork Therapeutics is owned and operated by Nationally Certified Massage Therapist Registered Yoga Instructor Kate Vickers Deriso. Kate has dedicated her practice to working with clients that live with chronic pain, back and neck pain, chronic migraine headaches, and TMJ using Bowen Therapy. In 1997, Kate began her *healing* journey in Tucson AZ where she worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in an acute rehabilitation hospital. Her work there was focused on orthopedic injuries and surgeries as well as stroke and traumatic brain injuries. After moving to Virginia, in 2003 Kate became a massage therapist wanting to use her rehabilitation knowledge to help people in a more natural healing way. In 2009, Kate experienced a chronic repetitive shoulder injury that did not heal with traditional therapies. It was then that Kate turned to Bowenwork and her injury simply “went away”. Surprisingly, Kate experienced two added benefits from receiving Bowen Therapy: 1.) her chronic migraine headaches were significantly less frequent and 2.) her TMJ was less painful and not waking her up in the middle of the night. Kate has not suffered a migraine for the past 3 months! Kate is passionate about what she does and stays current with new and progressive information on pain therapy, Bowen Therapy, natural health and wellness.
